Salinity in African tank

Was just wondering what the correct salinity should be for African cichlids. I have a 125 gallon setup stocked with a few cobalt blue's, electric yellows, and a few other assorteds.
I've been using freshwater aquarium salt at 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons as directed. After a few water changes though I'm loosing the salt and am not sure how much more to add.

why do you need to add salt?
they come from a freshwater lake, which is hardwater but doesn't contain any salt.

ya they really dont need salt.... and even if they did thats not the right salt to use..
