Hey all! After spotting some very beautiful sailfin mollies in a very nice LFS, they made me think about getting some just have to think about it...Ive already done my research on them and all about it is best if all molly species have salt in the tank and what not...What i wanted to know is those who have them, what do you think about them and what colors are your favorites? Pictures welcome! THanks everyone!

I dont have any pic's of my own avalible as i cant find the connecter to my computer from the camera. But i always have slat with my mollies. As it is better for gill function, and i always have my mollies die unless i have salt with them( it's not the same for everyone though). I love black sailfin's with gold on thier top fin( a gold lineing).

You have some beautiful fish! I like the dalmation one....and I think the ones at the LFS are multicolored males really pretty...Is it ok with a male + female ratio or 2 female + one male ratio? I would be interested in breeding them just wanted to know if a pair or trio was best for sailfins.

I have always been told and read that you should keep it at least 2 females to 1 male. And just sit back - you will have fry soon. I started with a 10 gallon tank with swords, sailfins a couple tetras and a pleco. My ten gallon is now just for the fry. Teehee.

Very Nice pic's! I would go with atleast 1 male to 2 females. I have 1 male to 4 females. He is quite occupied.

My big dalmation loves everyone - his two girls, the black one and the platinum. While my black one loves his, the dalmations two and the platinum. It is a love fest in my tank!!!

lol! came home tonight from a church easter thing and found that my lone female mickey mouse platy had given birth...I knew she was pregnant just didnt know when she would drop....only saw one baby so dont know how many she actually had! I think every female livebearer you buy from the pet store is pregnant lol! :shout: :hyper:

Off topic: Dude, our Good Friday Service was AWSOME!!!!!!!!!!

Back on topic: Congrat's! I usually have fish birth's while im gone for some reason. In all truth, 99.9 percent females are prgnant( yes, even those guppies that are seperated!). She wil probably have more, i woudl seperate her.

I've been breeding dalmation mollies for 2 years now. I never use salt ,keep them in 16 litre tank and they drop fry once a month for me. I have 1 male to 3 females and feed flake twice daily with occasional tubiflex for a treat. Works for me :good:

I have to tell you guys - I absolutely fell in love today while at one of my favorite LFS. They had green sailfin mollies. The looked yellow at the bottom with green and then darker spots on them and the tails were edge with a dark green or black. OMG - they were gorgeous.

Check them out:
