I have had a pair of sailfin mollies for a while and I have just brought home another pair. However the males are really showing their fins now and the new recruit is being attacked by the smaller original inmate . The tank is a five footer so there is plenty of room for them to get out of each others way . Is there anything I can do?

Lots of plants, fake or real, and lots of decorations for them to get away behind. When it comes down to it, you may just have to separate them out for a while. If you have all males, they're going to be territorial by nature.

Nice to see you got livebeares in a 5ft most people think big tank big fish.

Their is little u can do their fighting to see who's boss, it's the same as a pecking order in birds
They may do it for 3-4 days and they now and then for months

:good: Thanks everyone for your comments . My tank is full of live plants an the odd cave so hopefully they will give each other room . They seemed to calm down last night but they are giving it large this morning .

Thanks for the bit about the tank helterskelter . I have quite a selection in there and it is always active . My goal was to have a lot going on without going over the top . It is like a busy town in there but not on a Saturday. Don't get me wrong , I do like big fish , but even in a five footer there would not be much room for them to stretch their fins as it were .

Anyway I will give them a couple of days and if they are both at it hammer and tongs still then I will remove the new boy and give him to my friend across the road .
