Hi,

I already have a pair of sailfin mollies, i was just wondering whether it would be ok to get another pair? or would the males be aggressive towards each other?

Thanks in advance

If you don't want them to breed, all females is best. Males may get aggressive with each other. If you're looking for them to breed, you should have 3 females per male for the first male and then two females for every additional male should be okay.

Ok but my LFS sell them only as a pair for £5.95 (1 male 1 female) i just wanted to be sure that the males wudnt fight as at the shop they are in the same tanks in pairs and dont chase eachother or anything. I just wondered if anyone on here has had experience with keeping 2 pairs of sailfins in the same tank to be sure.

Thanks for the reply :good:

What size is your tank?
The males will fight... also they will kill the females (breed them to death) with only one female per male. My best advice is if they won't sell you more females per male... find another shop because most will.
I 'm not saying you don't already know this, but just incase... Mollies need some marine (not aquarium) salt in their water, and they do get kind of big. They need a somewhat large tank if you are planning to keep very many.
