Ello :)

I bought 3 sailfin mollies to go in my tank along with the black tetra and clown loach.

I heard the mollies are brakish fish and like a bit of salt, I'm wondering can they live ok without it?

I love the fish but I'm considering taking them back if it's unfair on them.

My black sailfin molly has developed a mouth fungus which I'm currently treating so that's why I'm concerned.

55 gallon
PH 7.8
Water hardness at 18
Amonia at nothing
Nitrite nothing
I think the man said nitrate is pretty low

the tank is still cycling but i think it's about a week before it's fully done

I think it's a black widow tetra. I got to get him a mate once it's fully cycled and a mate for the clown loach.

thanks for the link i'm checking it out now

you shouldn't really of cycled with a clown loach they are quite sensitive.

btw they like large groups over 5 would be good and depending on which species of clown loach you have one sort grows 12inches and the other sort grows 6inches so there is a chance you may not have the room for the clowns.

as for the black widow tetra groups of 6+ i reccommend some may say different.

to give you my answer on sailfins i would take them back as they really do, do better in tanks that are brackish.

:good:

cheers for the reply jayjay, i might just do that with the sailfins

I inherited the tank off a friend, he was letting all the fish die :( . There was 2 clown loaches in there to start with, but with the move and everything one died

He was just going to dump the tank at a landfill so I jumped at the chance to take it!

I think the black sailfin has ick, so I'll probably treat it first then give all 3 away
