Yes my tank is still cycling. It is only about 3 weeks old and I was doing too many water changes not giving it time to actually cycle. Believe it or not I actually found someone that knew something at the semi-lfs. (lol)

Are there any other causes for fin loss that have white spots as a symptom? I lost a sailfin marble mollie yesterday morning. I thought it was ick but only one or two others have even one spot each and they look more like little pieces of styrofoam than the usual slimy ick. I am lost. I have treated for 3 days now and the only change is that all of my mollies are staying in the darkest areas of the tank, close to the heater and only come out to eat but seem to have much less energy. There seems to be no change to the guppies actions or eating behavior.

I have had a lot of luck with a medicine called maracyn they work wonders for my mollies.it is made by a company called mardel

:-(

OK, here is what I have done.

I have treated for ICK for 4 days and the fish started swimming at the top of the tank by the heater and staying in the dark. ( they are still eating but not as much and only smaller pieces)
Now, I am using Mardel's Maracyn-Two. I have just started the treatment.
I am very worried about them as I did not follow the recomended set up proceedures. :-(

The guppies in my tank seems to be un affected by all this.
The spots on the fish were only on two and on both were directly behind the, forgive me as i don't know the names of the fins, side fins that are just behind the gills and one by the top fin.

:-(

i think you are using the best medicine money can bye when did you start the medicine treatment? I have took everyones advice on here and someone told me about that medicine and I have had some problems with my fish but they havent been half as bad since I have been treating them with that medicine.the most problems I have been having is trying to treat my neighbors fish. They dont seem to have a clue as to what they are doing. They put those poor fish threw it.

I am convinced. I was sure I was going to lose one and she is doing a whole lot better!
I now know they had both fin loss and pop eye. I am on day two now.

I recomend a hospital tank. Wish i had done it and will do it asap!

I don't know if it is any better but treats a slightly different range including dropsy.
how do you know if a fish has dropsy and how long does it take to cure it if they do have it I have two baby black mollies and one of them belly looks like it is swelled up this morning I dont know what to do they had fungus not to long ago and I gave them salt baths and it done wonders for them I was just wondering should I use a antibotic on them right now o not

I am by no means an expert. I would post a new thread in the emergency area.
Dropsy sign include, Swollen, Bloated body, Protruding scales and or clamped fins.
I got that directly off of the Maracyn Two box. Maracyn One does not say it treats dropsy.

Other than that I am new to all these problems as I set my tank up properly the first time and was extreemly lucky.

Good luck.
