I was wondering whether sagittaria and rotala rotundifolia need any special growing assistance and what kind of water are they kept in?

Thanks in advance

LoL also oops I would like to know...

1. Does java moss look good as a backdrop on glass
2. If yes, lol...how do i get it to stay there and grow on it?

Thanks again

Sagittaria and Rotala rotundifolia are both quite undemanding providing you have enough light. I would suggest a minimum of 1.5 WPG of decent quality flourescent. Sagittaria species will grow better in a nutrient-rich substrate. Obviously the more light the better and CO2 would benefit too (you will need CO2 over 2 WPG generally). In terms of water chemistry they are both not fussy. More light (>2.5 WPG) and micronutrient-rich water will bring out a lovely red in Rotala.

As for Java moss I would say it's a matter of opinion - so yes for me.

The rotala in my tank has grown well, and it's not difficult to grow. I've seen in other people's tanks that it gets reddish, but not in mine. Even with 3.5 wpg and plant substrate it's more of an orangish color. It's wierd because I can get vallis to go red but not the plant that supposed to. Still, rotala is a fairly easy plant that's good for color.
