I noticed something odd with my mickey mouse platy and netted & isolated her - to my surprise she was giving birth. She has lived a fortnight in my female only tank and they were separated at the lfs so goodness knows...
Anyway she looked like she was really struggling, i haven't seen it before except on youtube (i had to have a look to see if i was right) but it seemed harder and longer than i would expect and after a fair while the fry was born, dead. I found a single fry in the tank over 24 hours ago - is it normal to go so long between births? She doesn't look any slimmer - how much longer should i keep her isolated?
Poor thing. She only has one fin and she got stuck with a newb as an owner!
