Sa Puffer Food Variety...

hello all,

Is there anything i can feed SA puffers which i can get from the supermarket/fish counter? Something cruchy to give an alternative treat to snails, are cockles etc bad as they some from saltwater, or would a good rinse cure that?

cockles are fine,

as are bloodworm, brine shrimp, prawns, mussels, earthworms and obviously snails.

cheers, ive been feeding bloodworm and they scavenge snails from around the tank. Picked up some cockes at waitrose on the way back form work on the off chance they would be ok. do you buy whole mussels?

yes you can buy whole mussels, live or dead,

Much of a SAP's diet needs to be crunchy foods, but remember that if it is uneaten after a few minutes take the food out to prevent it from fouling the water in the tank.
