Rusty Cichlid?

We purchased this as our first cichlid, and they were just labelled as "Miscellaneous African Cichlids". His purple changes according to his mood/behavior, and the stripes become more defined as well. He's about 4 1/2" long now.
Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a Rusty, but its color looks a little to vivid to be one. Got a side pic? ohh, and great camera shot!

I say it very well could be. Look at the second picture on this link:

They are only supposed to get 4", but maybe yours is an exception.

I dont know if it is a rusty...

I have two of these fellows that look real similar to yours and they are Yellow Tail Acei cichlids. Mine are about 4inches and still growing!! Yours may not be. Its hard to tell without a photo of him from another angle. These guys swim near the top of tank and all voer it but like to hover up the top 3/4s.

They are sort of a purple blue colour depending on their mood with yellow fins. real pretty fellows too. Hearty cichlids. They are a bit aggressive but not to bad
