high heat and some salt seems to be working for me, but you need to do this for a good 2/3 weeks to make sure the dang fleas are gone. Ive got my tank up to 88/89 and just very little salt-- maybe 5 tsp for 55 gallons and my plants dont seem to be affected by either. If you want a fast treatment and are willing to use chemical I think Maracide by Mardel is one of the best (plant safe)

im going with the heat only approach to begin with if no improvment then i will add salt thanks :)

Catfish don't tolerate high doses of salt.

I would half dose a whitespot med.

ah ok i will see if the heat works if not ill use meds thanks :)

Get methylene blue from a pet store. 5mL/10 gallons. It WILL dye some things in your tank. You have to do this for 2 days, without carbon. Change30% water, one day without treatment. Than, again 2 days 5mL/10 gallons, no carbon. On the day when there is no treatment, add carbon. These directions are on the bottle, I had Kordon methylene blue, but I'm guessing the directions are the same. Don't mess with the SuperIch removal, its b.s. My case of ich took two 5" long balas and almost got my moonlight gourami.

Treatment has to last atleast 2 weeks.

With heat it looks like it gets worse before it gets better - atleast in my case. When I first started turning the heat up in my tank, the next 2 days seemed like there were twice as many "spots" on the fish then all of a sudden they just disappeared. Most things I read said that Ich stops breeding at 86 F but doesnt die until 89.5 F So as long as you are 86 or above it starts to decrease in numbers but that is why it takes 2/3 weeks with the heat because you need to let the fleas die and not reproduce. Where in ALL meds they only treat Ich in the "free-swimming" stage and not when they are attached to fish or sitting in gravel, and that is why most say add every 2/3 days....

i have cranked the temp up to 30 and on day 4 now all the fish seem fine so far keeping a close eye on them and got my self a little daily diary for it lol

diary  ... but make sure you leave it ATLEAST for 10 days, my tank has been up to 88/89 since last Sunday and I plan on keeping this up for ATLEAST another week because I still see scratching.. Although the scratching could be caused by older damage to the gills and now its only healing...... ITS BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRYY!!!

yeah a diary so i can write how the fish are reacting if there feeding properly etc oh and of course so i dont forget which day im on lol i like to be organised

i am certainly doing it for 10 days minimum :)

Thats weird, heat for 2 weeks cured my tank......... If you're in the US try Maracide its good stuff but if you're in the UK I HAVE NO CLUE

But like I told you in the past it looks worse before it gets better.........
