Hello everyone,

One of my rummy nose tetra has something behind his eye and I'm not sure what it is! There's also something on his fin.

Does anyone have ny idea what this is and how I could possibly combat it?

There's nothing unusual with his behaviour, he's swimming fine with his tank mates.

Sorry for the image quality, they are too fast to focus on!

Looks a bit like some kind of fungas.

I had a fungas in my tank and the fish didnt seem to act any different. Maybe someone will have another idea.
Is it just on the one fish? Could he be quarintined? Incase it spreads?

Thanks Trevor, I can confirm that it's only him that is affected. I can't quarantine him as I only have only one tank. I have added Melafix to the water, do you think this will help?

I'm not saying its definatly a fungas. It LOOKS like some kind of fungas. I cannot confirm that it is though. I just thought if i bumped your topic to the top it might help get a definate answer.

You could try posting this topic in the emergency section as oppose to tropical disscussions.

Hopfully it gets sorted bud :good:

The fluffy cotton wool near the eye does it look pink, or white, as it hard to tell in the pic?

To be honest, it looks more like a tiny piece of white cotton thread as opposed to a fungus.

Could it be a small parasite/worm of some sort?

From where it is I guess it could be gill fluke.
Back me up?

Cotton strands can be columnaris.
It hard to see gill flukes with the naked eye. The gills would look red and inflamed, or pale with excess mucas. Check the fish eyes to make sure the no white specs on the lens of the eye.
Anchor worm will have Y shaped tail.
