Ruby Barb

One of my ruby barbs seems to have some of his scales missing on one side of his body, while he seems ok in himself, I was wondering if there is anything to speed up his recovery?

Missing scales can mean that he has caught them on an ornament, from parasites to bacterial infections, any white around the remaining scales, any laboured breathing or flicking and rubbing on objects.
