Hi there

Relatively new to fish keeping, about 4 months now. Currently have a 3' 35 Gallon Tank, and i am fascinated with Red Tailed Black Sharks, however there is some confusion on whether i should have one in my tank. Currently I have the following Below

Tank Size - 3' 35 Gallon
Planted
Amonia - 0
Ph - 6.5
Driftwood added
Nitrate - 0
Nitrite - 0
Bubble Machine
Temperature - 27 Degrees
Subtrate - Sand (light in colour)

FISH

8 Neon Tetras
2 Large Baloon Mollies
2 Sailfin Mollies
1 Pseudotropheus Demasoni
4 Labidochromis Caeruleus
2 Suckermouth Catfish
6 Peacock Guppies

Are the RTBS aggressive to any of these kinds of fish? Ive heard they are aggressive with barbs, and other similar coloured fish.

Please advise as my current fish community is peacefull and they all play really well together.

I`ve never kept rtbs but from research I would not consider them ideal community fish, there may also be a questionmark over the size of your tank

They can be agressive or they can be very social in the right sized tank... i personally wouldnt try it in a 3ft tank as they can grow quite big and in a smaller tank aggresion levels can rise due to the fact that the shark will think the whole tank is his territory.
Plus i think you may be close to your stock limit (this will need confirming though)

oh okay, thanks for the advice guys, i only need a couple more fish i think to finish it off, maybe a siameese fighter (single of course) and a friend for the pseudo and that should finish it off i think

You can't put a Siamese fighter in with guppies.

Too small for RTBS.

Nitrate - 0

Thats very unusual, almost all tanks have small amounts of nitrate present.

Those 2 species are NOT community fish and should therefore not be kept with community fish. They have very different needs to your other fish. I'd return them if I was you

as my current fish community is peacefull

Yeah, that bit's worrying me too...Pseudotropheus and Labidochromis are Lake Malawi cichlids and really need to be in a Malawi only set-up.

thats a hell of a community buddy, a disaster waiting to happen, try to find a lfs with knowledgeable aquarists and research your desired fish, try to have a community planned out in your head before impulse buying or been fed poor advice from incompetent lfs staff. The lab and pseudothropheus aren't suitable for your set-up for many reasons, i'd definitely give the RTBS a miss too.
