Royal Blue Butterffly Ct Male (?)

I finally got tired of particular fish in my 5.5 gallon. I wanted some COLOR! So I spontaneously (as usual) went and purchased this fellow from PETCO today. He seems shy and rather passive until he sees his own reflection. He doesn't pester the other tankmates unless they annoy him.

Not 100% on his exact color, but I know he is a HM. I spent nearly $15 on him. *faints* I think it was worth it. My original plan was add him to the tank and he could coexist with the tiger barbs....hahaha. As soon as the fellow hit the water my barbs wanted to EAT him. So they were removed into their own tank. I hate to play favorites, but the betta is worth $13 more than the two barbs do together.

May end up removing my 3 danios as well. One in particular seems a little too interested in stalking my bettas every move. He better watch it...he was cheaper than the barbs too!

Nonetheless, excited about my new guy! He's gorgeous. Saw him and a red doubletail, but ended up getting him because I'm a sucker for the longer tails and shades of blue.

I hate having to pay that much too, but I would have had a hard time passing that one up. Looks like a dark mettalic blue over black butterfly. Absolutely stunning. I saw one close to that a couple weeks ago and would have paid the almost $15 at Petco but he had the start of a little fin rot and I wasn't about to chance it.

I think he may have just arrived to the store. They seemed to have a ton of bettas. He however was the most stunning other than a red double tail who was also pretty in his own way. I love having PETCO in town. They seem to have a great selection of fish most of the time.
