I'm putting my Aquaone Oscellaris 850 external filter into use when I get the new head gasket and priming pump.
It's going to feed my 60 ltr tank upstairs as I just emptied it, gave it a thorough clean and added new substrate and growing medium under the top layer of black gravel.
I always wondered what in hell I was doing wrong when all the plants I bought died in a couple of weeks. No growing medium and no in-tank fertiliser surely didn't help.
Anyway, now I'm satisfied that the bottom of the tank will be fine now, I'm preparing the necessary filter tubes.
What's getting on my nerves right now, is the u-bend where the inlet and outlet tubes go over the top edge of the tank.
They are so damn wide as to be restrictive when feeding the tubing up to the tank tops. The tube bend radius is 7.5cm. I'd love a u-bend with a very much smaller radius, and better still with a slightly flattened top (almost rectangular but definitely oval) where it goes over the tank top so that it sits flatter.
Any ideas?
I thought that I might try heating the pipe and bending into shape but that not going to be easy.

Assuming the plastic can be softened, and is thick enough, pack with sand or salt prior to heating and bending to keep it from collapsing.
There is a youtube video on making a water filler hook somewhere that shows the process.
