What did I do wrong..
I got 12 rosy reds and I put them in my 20 gal. tank (Still in the bag) then after like an hour I dumped them into the tank and like 20 mins later they were all dead. Was it shock? The temp. was like 80. Was it too warm?

What was the ph of the store to your tank.

Are they barbs, and also did you add tank water to the bag.

No I didn't add tank water to the bag. I don't know the ph of the tank and whats a barb? Sorry im a noob.

I just cleaned the tank before I bought them. Tap water.

Rosy reds are coldwater fish.

You mean you cleaned the whole tank, did you add declorinator to the tank water, sounds like ph shock to me then sorry.

80 is way too hot for rosy reds. And next time open the bag and roll the sides downand let it float in the tank and every 10 minutes or so add a cup of tank water to the bag taking some of the water out when it gets too full. *never* add the bag water to your tank.

I bought 12 rosy reds today and their all fine. To breed them I put a coffee can (plastic) in there, will this be hard enough? Its the best thing I could find. What do eggs look like when they are first layed?
