Such a pragmatic approach. When faced with a similar dilemma I bought another tank and rehomed the offenders.

That would be another way to handle the situation if you have room for another tank. I have 3 empty tanks in the basement so I would have probably done that but we do not know what works best for @Aussie_Bristle. either way, to seperate the fish is the right thing to do.

My hubby already tells me I have to many tank and I only have 3 lol so getting another tank was not an option unfortunately. I had no other way of dealing with this in the short time I had and did what was best.

I am in the same boat, my wife would not be to happy if I brought up another tank from the basement. I would have brought the tank up and never heard the end of it. So in the long run I would have had to get rid of something so I could take the tank back downstairs
