Rosy Barbs And Guppies

are 8 rosy barbs (2") compatible with guppies in a 30 gallon tank?

Rosy Barbs are considered a "Semi Aggressive" species. If you are keeping male guppies I would not keep any "semi aggressive" fish with them.

I wouldn't recommend it, Rosy barbs are way too fin nippy to be kept with guppys,

The thing wih Barbs is that they like to nip fins, they do this either by nipping other fishs fins or fins of there fellow shoal mates (other Barbs). The more Barbs you have the less likely there are of nipping the fins of other fish in the tank, as they will be to busy squabbling amongst each other to pay attention to other tank mates.
