Ugh... so i put a root tab under my java fern ( i know your not supposed to plant them in gravel but ive had mine there for 2+ years now and its going strong.. well WAS) and i saw a few dead leaves... i know the leaves die and make new plants, so i figured hey, a leaf died and now ill get new ones.... well i woke up this morning to a big brown dead mass with roots.... the other java ferns in the tank are doing perfect.... and they had a root tab under them aswell, so did i just get a bad one? please answer so i can decide wethere or not to get any more root tabs.... and im also just really curious.

Btw, java ferns dont need root tabs, I wouldnt bother using root tabs on java ferns.

I dont know about your problem though.

I dont think its anything to do with the root tabs per se.

Its probable that the roots got hurt while inserting the tabs or the plant is now sitting deeper in the sand now and thats causing the leaves to die.

i dont think thats it, i didnt put it under the plant for that reason....i put it a few inches away becuase it says they have a 10 cm radius i think

i have those tabs and they have never really done anything to my plants except make them grow lol... perhaps one of them CAN go bad, but it has never happened with me.
