I was going to re-do my tank to put laterite in. But then I thought about Root tabs. The main reason i was going to put Laterite in was becasue of my Amazon Swords, which like Nutrients at their roots. But if i was to add Root tabs at the base of them would that be alright? It would save alot of hassle, and the idea of taking apart my tank, scares me. :p

I only have a sand base and have been growing plants without a problem by using root tabs. I have had an amazon sword for a couple of months and it is growing so I would have thought you would be ok.

Root tabs will work fine. Just insert them at the base of the plant and make sure they are thoroughly covered with the substrate. Otherwise the nutrients will leach rapidly into the water.
