i have 20 gallon tank set up with a semi agressive rainbow shark. would love to add cichlid, but not sure where to start.......is it possible with this tank size, and tank mate? do cichlids like to be in pairs, or can house single? any suggestions?

a pair of dwarf cichlids like german blues or bolovians may work depending on how agressive the shark is. i personaly cant see him being much of a problem as long as there are plants and caves etc.

I would go for other fish that would bite back if he turned on them

The shark and the cichlids are competing for the same type of territory and a 20 gallon isn't much space. It would be best to choose between the shark or the cichlids.
