based on my stocking level, do i have room for one oto?

how hardy are they?

do they produce a lot of waste?

is there a hardier alternative for a small, good algae eater that would fit?

Ottos should be kept in groups of threes.

The best algae eater on the market is called a "Mag-float".

I would say yes, you have room, but if you want something to get rid of your algae, then you're better using elbow grease.

danios prefer larger tanks...and albino cories get to three inches i think. Neither is really a great choice for a ten gallon. If possible think about returning your fish to an lfs and rethinking your stocking list. You could get pygmy cories which only get around 1 inch. That would free up a lot of space...maybe enough for the three ottos you want. =)
