Rocks

I had an idea today, and I thought I'd ask it here to see opinions.

If I wanted to make a tank with fake plants, could I essentially just use rocks where the plants will be placed, or would this be a bad idea?

Inert rocks such as granite or slate are fine to use in most aquariums. this link has some info on the kinds of rocks usually available and what to avoid.

You don't need rocks, but there are alot of tanks that have more rocks than plants. Check out the Aquarium and Fish Pictures Forum and see what looks good to you.
