So i've noticed that the two white rocks that I found at a creek and boiled for 2 hours and scrubbed are turning neon green. They've been in the tank for a month or so. Anybody got a theory on this???? Algae is DEFINITELY not a problem on this tank. Water is Crystal Clear, plants are very healthy.

10 Gallon
2 X 24watt T5
DIY C02 X 3 through powerhead
1.5 ml Seachem Flourish every other day
hang on tank aqueon filter
Hydor Koralia Nano (240 gph)

Fish
*4 Otocinclus Catfish
*2 Zebra Longfin Danios
*2 Red Minor Serpae Tetra
*1 Gold Plat
Plants
*Hygro rosa
*Cabomba
*Java Moss

it will be algae my friend, it happens in EVERY fish tank, planted or not. you can either tank them out and scrub them or leave them in for that nutural look. personally its better with alage on them as they blend in.

think of it like this, you have 100 pairs of shoes. in a 10x10 block. 99 of them are green, 1 is white. the white pair will stand out really badly. that is what your white rocks are doing against your green plants

I think that the white rocks are important in the scape he has created.
The contrast is what makes it, and the bright white of the rocks against the substrate and plants gives a feel almost like ruins of a bright stone building have fallen in a river or something.

Try giving them a quick wipe with your hands to see if it comes off easily (don't worry about taking them out of the tank).
If not you can try scrubbing them, or put up with it if you don't mind the look.

So I guess I'm gonna have to live with them. Tried rubbing...nothing....scrubbing....still nothing. O well. Tank looks fine anyway. I liked them being white, they had good contrast, but I'll just have to live with it.

green spot algae that has taken over the rocks. terrifically difficult to scrape, but looks nice on decor in my opinion.
cheers

add some more PO4, flourish is a bit on the low side. Try using an electric tootbrush, or if possible, remove the rocks and give them a good scrub with a wire brush or bleach
