Hey guys, seen a few pictures of rocks up against glass are these siliconed on or sponge?

Looks to be a lot of weight against some of them.

You can actually put a lot of weight on glass; it has high 'crush' strength (may not be proper technical terms, lol) but low 'twist' strength.

So you can easily pile pounds and pounds of rock inside the tank, but if you get the tiniest piece of grit underneath, the base will crack as soon as you start to fill the tank with water (which is why the modern 'floating base' has become so popular of course).

Some people do silicone the pieces of rock together so they can't fall or use egg crate ot rely on the substrate underneath, but most people don't silicone the rock to the actual tank; that would be terribly inconvenient for cleaning, rescaping and using tanks for other things!
