is it worth to switch to RO water? mainly because of my plants?

my tank is reading a high 7.8, and always has been. the local water is very hard as well.

i have lots of plants as well, i dont know if RO helps plants...

1. I was just wondering if its worth to switch to RO, and why?

2. and also... how do u get about 15g of RO water? we have a small RO system for drinking water, but it can only give out a couple gallons before it runs out and has to filter more water...

I use RO water, but mainly to drop my pH (almost 9) down for breeding purposes. Along with all of the "Bad things" in tap water, there are also "good things." If you convert completely to RO water (which will need to be down very slowly, over a number of water changes, in an established tank), you will need to supplement the water with vitamins/minerals and a buffer (to keep your pH from swinging I believe).
