i've had my mbuna tank going for about 6 months now with no issues. i also have a small marine tank so always have RO water to hand.
some info first
125lt tank
filter xp3 (rated at 600ltr)
8 mbuna (all about 2")
ph 7.8
gh i think was about 11 (i could be completely wrong)
kh was about 5 (i could be completely wrong)
my nitrate before using RO would be about 5ppm before a water change, i'd do 30ltr every week using just tap water.
about 3 weeks ago i decided i'd try RO for a while and see how it goes.
my first RO water change was 15ltr on the 20th and my nitrates have read 0 every since, last night i did another 15ltr RO water change.
each time i have used jbl cichlid salts, my stats in terms of ph etc have not changed at.
so this brings me to my question, how long would you leave a water change if nitrates remain at zero. over time minerals in the water will degrade so i assume water changes still need to be done, its just a case of how often.
cheers
