I mounted my RO unit in my brick shed.

Should I be concerned about it freezing through our UK winter ?

Anything I can do to prevent it ? Drain it maybe ?

Personally I would worry about it freezing. Try some lagging around the pipes and get some insulating around it. Do not drain it, the RO membrane will end up totalled!

You do need to ensure it is insulated as the small bore pipework is very prone to freezing esp when not in use.

We keep our unit in the garage but only drain the feed line from the mains water when not in use as the main body is less likely to freeze, this way the membranes are kept full of water too as quite rightly said above, dried out membranes mean time to buy a new one

Steve :)

you definatly need to move it inside, you will have a job to stop it freezing!!

Or heat the shed! but that would be absolute madness!!!

well I suppose its no madder than putting a £100 RO unit in your shed in the midlands!!

:)

Agreed, if it does freeze, its toast, the membrane cannot survive freezing

that'll work, just have an icepick ready for the RO water in the shed
