Alrite everyone :)

Just wanted to start out a new thread on the old one as i only need a quick answer and the 3pages on the other topic would probably bore you off
My Ro unit will be connected to the tap by hozelock tap connector, just wondering how hard you let the tap run. Is the water bursting out of the tap full blast or like trickling out down the tube gently?

Just need some reference as i can only run the water out of my tap gently or the connector become useless (Most water spills out sides :()

I'm hoping you dont have to run the tap full blast :S

Thanks
Dan

i run mine full blast, the more pressure you get the more output you get...My R/O is rated around 110gph and only produces 3gph or so at full blast. also, i don't know if trickling will produce the pressure needed to push the water through all the membranes sufficiently...who knows :/

The more pressure you have the better the membrane performs, unless you exceed the presure rating of the system, but if this was the case your faucet would also be blown apart. Put it on full blast.

MY RO unit is rated at 110gph and I only get about 5 gallons every 24 hours plus. My house water pressure is at 40-45 psi. I understand that if your pressure is below 45, you need an electric pump to increase the pressure, so, I'm stuck at slow RO production. Full blast. SH

Full Blast Mate

Did the Hozelock tittings come with Rubber Seals ?

Thanks for your replies everyone :)

Chac - Those two black rubber ring things?
I think i still have them.... :*)

Dan

Thanks mate :)

Just found the fitting, it works nicely. Not as much spill :D

Wow! Full blast out of the tap all day long? Can i ask how much on average that would cost you in water? :S

Thanks
Dan

I aint sure mate as I aint on a meter

There is quiet a lot of water wasted using a RO Unit, you could have a cold bath with the excess if you wanna save it

If you mean the seals then that will sort out the leaking problem

Cheers mate :) is the waste water good to drink?

Damn my tap is on full blast and im getting one drop of product water every 2 seconds?
I mean come on this is a 50GPD unit and im getting that? Does that sound about right to your guys?
Better pay my mum for the water bill......:/

Thanks
dan

Good news! the waters coming out at about 2 drops per second now. More good news is we pay a standard water rate. Use 1litre or 1000 we pay the same. Phew! that's a relief

Now then, in 2.4hours i will have removed the factory chemicals and i'm good to add RO water on the weekend! Then finally get some LR in the tank :D

Edit: Flippin heck.... At this rate it's gonna take a good 48hours to make 5 gallons.....:/

Okay i stopped whinging and got up and had another bash at it...Results :D
The unit's working smoothly now. Presume i'm getting about a gallon per hour, good enough for me!
:D

Does this mean that you gonna stop playing about with that RO Unit and get some water in to yer tank then

Okay....Another problem.
The pressure gauge is working now and it's telling me that im only getting 22PSI. I can turn the tap up quite alot more it's just that if i do the pressure of the water shoots my reducer off :(
I don't know what i can do? I wish i could drill into the pipes, that would allow me to put th tap on full blast but theres no way my mum will let that happen. This low PSI means my water is going to come out about as crappy as it went in? :sigh:
Thanks
Dan
Ps: I've only got 2gallons from the problem solved part. So 1 gallon per hour was an overstatement. :(

Edit: Tightened everything up and i can get about 48PSI, 8 above the units spec :)
Makes about 5gallons in 8 hours.
