This is what I do

You could tyr something like ths:
123864.jpg

power head at one end
small gravel on the bottom raised by rocks at one end (I prefer nutmeg gravel you
dont have to raise the gravel but thats what I would do cause i think it would look cool)
you could then add some river rocks
then plant some amazon swords(cause i like amazon swords and the will look cool)
throught the current along the back side of the tank
and of the opposite sied of the power head

ps i wouldnt add frogs to this type of tank
try a fish whose natural habbitat is a deltal or river
if you want frogs or something other that fish
i reccomend making them have there own tank
I had affricaan underwater frogs in a tank with
huts/rocks/caves and large greavel

o yea check out http://fishprofiles.com/profiles/ when you search for a fish
select river and/or delta in the ecosystem box

hopes this helps
:) good luck
see my sig ->
(keep me updated with pics - cause im courius to see the outcome)

lol im sorry im stil completely confused...the part where the gravel is risen...how do you put the powerhead in there without gravel covering it...and also...if there is a powerhead that doesnt need to be completely submerged...how do u get the flow of water into it without gravel getting into the rising tube...because i also wanted some land above water too...lol maybe this isnt possible to have a river tank with above land...i really appreciate the help though...it answered most of my questions...just please explain some more on how the plumbing works....thank yooou

alrighty i got the plumbing all set and everythings in there...thank you guys for the help...one last thing...what do u do for filtering besides mechanical?

you can basically put large psonges over the intake of the power heads so the fish arent' swallowed in the pipe and bacteria will form on it.

you could always add a hang on back filter somewhere as well

Yes, I would use a hang on back filter besides the powerhead and perhaps cover the powerhead like yvez9 said - either with sponge or some kind of netting (make sure whatever you use is safe for the fish) if you worried about fish getting caught. However, as it's a river tank, try not to reduce the water flow too much...
River tanks tend to be better with medium-large, rounded pebbles as a substrate as these won't get swept around by the powerful current (and I assure you that having a powerhead and HOB on a 10 gallon will create quite a bit of current.
What fish are you considering? It's best to go for fish that actualy live in fast-flowing rivers such as white clouds ond hillstream loaches (for a coolwater tank). Frogs (ADFs that is) probably won't appreciate the strong flow all that much.

hey guys its finally done!! it feautures a sand pit, where my waterfall slowly moves towards it from a steep fall..another much bigger pit where the intake is for the waterfall and filter is...its such a cool tank...it is all sand no gravel except for many large rocks...im planning on putting a newt in it which i am pickign up today because its been running for a while now...and all the tests say normal...wish me luck and i will post pictuers tonight...!! thanks!
