Hi folks. does anyone know if rivershrimps are coldwater or tropical? I would like to breed some but not sure of water temperature?

If you're refering to the river shrimp that are sometimes sold in the UK as live food (they look a lot like ghost shrimp) they're cold water, and I mean COLD water, they will not do well indoors even in an unheated tank.

I understand that they're caught from the wild in esturine streams making them a brackish species although I have yet to track down their scientific name or much information about them at all.

We buy about 150 of them each week for our fish to munch on, but to be honest they're not very nutritious. It helps if you feed the shimps on algae wafers before feeding them to the fish, then at least the fish get their veggies!
