River Sand

Have just bought my new aquarium and it came with River Sand, does anyone know this termonology and will it be okay for fish tank.

Ignore this post, discovered shells in it so obviously actually came from a river, binned accordingly.

Yeah if its got shells in it its only good for marine tanks.
