I am so devastated. I have had my first fish fatality with a disease in my whole life of fish keeping. I have never cried over a dead fish in my life until today.
Well last week I went to the local chain store to pic up some more food. I always look at the fish, even though they are abused, and it saddens me especially the beautiful betta stuck in rows on shelves in tiny cups. I never really got that into betta, i found most pretty boring and most i have seen IRL have been some mix of blue and red or had a white head that made it look like it had chemo and did nothing for me. There in the pyramid of cups i saw him-Mister Fish! He was actually swimming and would flare his gills. He wasn't a VT or a CT. This fish did not belong to die in a cup in chain store... I did something I never did, I bought a chain store fish. I thought to myself, well, they boyfreind has a chain store betta and it has been doing well, and my old roomate had a betta she kept in filty water that her cat drank and it lived for 2 years, what the heck, it will be fine... I would look nice next to my boyfriends betta.
Took Mister Fish home, put him in his Mister Fish home and he made bubble nests and flared his gills at my boyfriends betta across the glass. Mister fish couln't have been happier!
Today Mister fish was not moving much and he had the columnaris. I treated to no avail. Mister Fish passed on an hour ago. He will be burried with his clump of java moss and some blue rocks. I will never find a betta quite like Mister Fish again, and if i ever say one that looked like Mister Fish I would buy it even if it cost something steep like 30 buck and i would hope in my heart it was Mister Fish reincarnated.
I cang believe I got attached to such a cute little fish and even cried over it. I am devastated about Mister Fish. I just had to get out all this emotion.
