I just lost my favorite fish, my Powder Blue Dwarf Gourami.

I noticed 2 days ago that he wasn't himself, kinda hanging out at the filter outlet staring toward the back of the tank. He didn't eat either, which never happens. He was always an eager eater. When he wasn't eating he would swim across the front of the tank "working out" his swimming muscles. He was always pretty active and fun to watch.

Of course I checked the ammonia & nitrite and both were perfect yellow & blue. I never did get around to checking the Nitrate or the pH cause I figured the tank is just about due it's weekly 1/3 water change anyway & I planned to do it tonight (Monday). No other fish show any signs of stress, are lethargic or anything. The Corys, Guppies & Molly Fry are buzzing around, and the Glowlights are chilling out in a pretty good school. Everything looks to be normal but the King is gone. :-(

:( I'm so sorry. I saw his pictures...such a beaut! How long have you had him? was it the Gourami disease?

RIP little guy.

How old was he? Hopefully he was just old and his time had come and it's not a sign of anything bad in your tank. It's a very lovely looking tank I must say!

I'm not excatly sure how long I had him but it was before Christmas, maybe before Thanksgiving, somewhere around there. I never expected him to live because I'd gotten 3 other Dwarf G's & they all died of the same disease. After he lasted for months I was sure he was a strong one that wouldn't die from the disease. Easily the most muscular & tough looking Dwarf I ever saw.

RIP little guy.

He might've been a bit older since he was pretty large, I'd say an easy 3 inches to the tip of his tailfin.

ugh. So Sorry. Worst part of this hobby.

Thanks. I'm going to post some pictures of him in this thread in Memory.

Thanks for the compliment on the tank but he wasn't in the tank in my signature, he was in this tank:

Yeah, my son was upset but not as devastated as he was when he lost his Sailfin Molly.

The tank looks so empty now...............

:( :rip: was the sailfin his favorite?

Yeah, hence his name here is "Sailfin Zack"

I was checking out some of the local fish stores & Pet Supplies Plus has (3) Honey Gouramis! I might just pick them up to console myself.............of course they were in a tank with Powder Blue Dwarf Gouramis & Flame Dwarf G's.............. Figures right? The Honeys are really small, like just over an inch and they're yellow, which I believe is the Golden Honey Gourami color variation.

In fact I'm going to post a thread inquiring about them................. :good:
