I had received 5 medium size lava rocks with riccia tied down to them, and it's been alot of work and mess. I don't know if it was on this board or another, but someone unraveled and used a shower sponge, which is mesh and unraveles into a tube. Well, I just finished wrapping these around the stones, and it looks like a great method. I also learned that using a python, attached to your faucet in suck mode, is really good for cleaning out all the plant bits floating on the surface. Two good finds in one day, amking this tank look much more managable. Now, if I could only find the green version of the barclaya longifolia that was recommended as a good discus planted tank centerpiece.

Let me know how this works out. I think it was here. Be careful, though, sometimes corydoras would get caught in the netting.

The only practical deployment of Riccia I have seen was in the tank that Oliver Knott did for The Green Machine on one of their aquascaping demos. I believe that he use small flat stones (of an angular nature) with the Ricca lashed to the top with thin fishing line. By using smaller stones he was able to create a carpet effect with the Riccia stones by placing them in a "crazy paving" fashion. The method was very effective.
