I am just curious. Can you use riccia for ground cover in a low lighted tank? Does it also handle high wattage? And, if the have stones and driftwood embedded in the gravel, would the gravel planted riccia eventually grow all over everything? But, my biggest question is...how the heck to plant riccia as a ground cover, in your gravel!?!?

would like to knwo the same thing about the spreading of riccia. Im guesing yourtalking about riccia fluitains? There is a topic above this post in the stickies that show how you do this!

Thanks,Ben.

Yes, but is there any way to do it straingth to the gravel and have it spread from there? I know about the mesh crate methods and all. In a perfect world, I'd be able to establish it and gravel and watch it slowly grow up, and cover, partially submerged (i.e. in gravel) stones and driftwood.

the plant doesnt root to anything, its a floating plant thats why people hold it down with netting :good:

Ah, understood,. so throwing it under gravel wpuld have what effect?

bits of riccia slowly being dug up and floating to the top

to get the carpet effect i think you just tie it down to something like slate/egg crate

Can you think of a better carpeting option?
