that is arogonite which is said to boost ph but just tested it and its normal.
also dust is still clearing out of the tank.so what do u think i should do w/ it.more plants......

i think i actuall want it fairly well planted since u can see it from the living room 2.

I'd add more plants. You may want to look at increasing lighting because that tank appears pretty deep and many plants require a LOT of light. If you go heavy plantd look into fertilizers and co2 injection. I'd personally remove the multi colored rock. They just rub me the wrong way. Look at getting a more boring colored ornament like a handmade siliconed cave made from quartz crystals. Beware sharp edges. Start the base with a piece of slate and then silicone crystals together until you have a cave. My sis did it and it looks pretty good. hmm what else. How much stocking room do you have left? You may want to look at incresing surface agitation to increas o2 levels in the tank. I believe that is a problem with taller tanks.

my funds were running short and i needed suttin

i just went outside and found rocks with smooth edges, cleaned them by first letting them soak in scolding hot water for a while (kill the bacteria and paracites, etc on them) about 15 min later i washed them in warm water and then let them air dry. its pretty afective in my opinion i too am short on budget as i am a broke college student.

here are pics of my tank, you can tell that i like the natural look also

my older tank

my newer one

all of the rocks for that cave came from a nearby stream. they work the best since the current has already dulled away the edges and have made them round.

also i know i need ot plant my tank more but i ran out of funds for the fake plants. i don't want to get into real ones yet as i am new to the aquarium life. but i suggest (when you can afford it) put more plants also.

and get rid of the "welcome to our pad" sign and that bright colored cave thing. go all natural and get rocks or plants to replace them.

i have never thought about stream rocks.i have a stream a block away.i will get some as soon as ice melts.

i have a external filter.its just hard to see through the black of the living room.

the tank is in my kitchen in a open window with the back facing the living room.(all pics were taken from kitchen)

i have 2 flourecent screw in water proof lights with cover sheilds just in case so its pretty bright
