I went to my LFS today as thursday is the day she gets new stock in. And i was looking round and noticed that she had a load of java moss in a couple of tanks, I asked her if she sold java moss as i've never seen it in that shop before. she said " i don't normaly have it in and as i don't want it you can have it all" I was made up when she said this and said yes without a second thought. Once she had collected it all from the tanks there was about £15 worth all in all. i don't think she new how much she had but she still was happy to give it to me for free. Just thought i would share this storey with you all.

I would sterlise it never no what in lfs tanks.

I removed the stones attached to the moss then put it in a tub of water and then rinsed it through checking for snails and other cling-ons. I removed all the little bits of old food and waste and made sure the water ran ckear before i put it into it's own container. and i'll keep it there for about 5-6 days before adding it to my tanks.

Some fish keepers use bleach, but you have to be careful as if you add to much it will kill it, i would add a drop of bleach, you can get parasites in it.
Ask in the plants section how you sterlise plants they will take you through the procedure, seen some nasty things come in on plants like anchor worm.
