I bought a Resun King 2L internal filter for my 3ft tank, and I have no idea how it's supposed to go. The instructions are... minimal to say it politely 
I've got it all together and it's running, but am I supposed to add anything besides the sponge thing that came with it? And also, it's fully submerged [and very quiet!], but does it have to be breaking the top of the water, or rippling it or something to get oxygen into the water? Or am I supposed to be using something completely different for that purpose? [Don't worry, I'm still cycling, no fish are suffering because of my noobness!] I'm planning on having plants in the tank, not sure if that makes a difference.
