They are counting on the fact that folks like you will do just that. If nobody at all would buy the fish at Walmart, how long do you think Walmart would continue absuing/selling fish? If you really want to put a stop to what they are doing, stop "rescuing" fish.

i dont go to walmart but i go to meijer(almost same thing) meijer is a superstore and sell pets and stuff like walmart but i went to walmart one day and was shocked to see that they use little itty bitty cups. at meijer they use 32 oz. jars. not the best but atleast better. and the water is usually crystal clear.

So in reality what do you really think is worse? Letting them die uncomfortably or giving them a chance to live a healthy life? In my opinion to say quit saving them because they are just going to buy more is kinda like saying quit taking beaten children away from their parents because they are just going to have more. Does that make sense to anybody but me? Sorry if it sounds harsh but hey thats my opinion. A life is a life.

They will buy more wether you save them or not, as others will come in and buy them, not knowing an better. If you want something done, write to the manager of the store saying how disgusted you were by the conditions, send another letter to their head office, and keep doing it till you see some action! Good luck!

And you save them if you want, just make sure you send a letter with every one you save! Don't mention the fact you bought the fish. I just thought, what if they only half fill the cups to get people to buy them out of sympathy?

Peta at Home put the bettas in with their other fish.
