Restocking, Comments?

Hi All.

Im going to be restocking this weekend after taking a long hard look at what i want and what i want to get from the hobby as previously i was more of a species tank keeper.

I have a 190L corner tank and currently have:

2x large adult convicts
3x juvenile double dark angels
4x albino corys
5x german blue rams
1x juvenile texas
1x honey gourami

Lovely fish however i have decided that im going to go down the angel route/ram route my dad has a leopoldi and a koi angel at his house and one is confirmed female (suspect my dd's are male) so i have agreed to trade my large convicts for his 2 angels and a pair of rainbow cichlids. I'll also be getting rid of the texas to a LFS who can look after it better in their 5' tank.

Finally the honey gourami will be shifting back to the girlfriends tank once a treatment for an unknown ailment is finished with.

So basically my new stocking list will be:

5x Angels
4x Albino Corys
5x German Blue Rams
2x Rainbow Cichlids

What do you guys think? maybe try to concentrate more on more angels or is that setup about right?

Also depending on how the rams pair off i may shift those along so i have a breeding pair of those also.

Hmmm if you have got away with what you are doing i suggest sticking to it, people tend to say Rainbows are placid however i found them the opposite....but nowhere near cons.

I kept both Rainbows and Cons with Angels and they didn't bother them (in a 100g)...its the Rams i would worry about.

There is no rule book when it comes to Cichlids...just risks.

Yea totally.

Everything has gone well with no major agression issues, the female con chases the texas a fair bit but thats all really, the rams are quite quiet also.

been totally submissive so far, have rid the convicts today and shes now trying to assert herself, shes up on aqs classifieds and for sale here also

Well the restocking went well. Unfortunately on sunday i got up and found one of my black angels dead, not from illness, the texas had done it i think.

Rang around a few shops and the texas has now been rehomed to tong garden center, for her i got 3x plants of unknown name and 1x (what they call) XL angel, total price i would have had to spend? £20 lol

i only paid a fiver for the texas so im quite chuffed.

The new tank is running nicely and looks good, the new angel has settled in and is a proven female from a breeding pair (will be buying the male asap)

Oh! One last thing before i go, the misses was kind enough to buy me some new plecs to replace the last one that was unfortunately eaten, she bought me 2x LDA16's (calico ancistrus) 1x male 1x female =-)

if so i would add around 6 more corys and your stocking will be complete

Yes thats correct however i will be heading back to the garden center wednesday or so to buy the matched male that spawned with the new famale meaning 6x angels (3x male 3x female)

My theoretical turnover is about 12x per hour just so people dont start moaning about filtration =-)

So with the male coming what would you suggest? another 4 corys?

yes, 4 should be fine,

My only other concern with adding an established breeding pair of Angels is that they may prove too aggressive for the other Angels and Rams, especially as its only a 50G.

My father has a 3.5'x2'18 available at his house that he uses as a chill out tank etc so should anything start breeding etc especially the angels ill be moving the others away so they dont get hurt.

yea, everything is peaceful at the moment, the only agression is coming from my biggest black angel (male) keeps showing up to the females who look quite uninterested then he just charges them with a "im bigger than you" attitude.. even though he is like half the size of the fully grown female lol =-)
