i got a 10 gal 2 days ago, im restarting it...will start a fishless cycle this time around though
what are good tank mates for a betta?
in a 10 gal heated and filtered
Edit:Apparently my did DID know about cycling.. he knew about fishless cycling, not cycling with fish which was whati waas attempting to do though, anywho im going to get my tank ready now bye bye ;D
sure glad to have a dad who used to keep millions of fish(exageration, maybe 2 200 gals)

a few are
-guppies
-platies
-snails
-cories

but be careful not all bettas wants to be community tanks!!
not many were seccesful

Guppies are a definite no no. With them having bright coloured tails, a Betta will mistake it for another fighter and attack it.
There's not many fish that a fighter will tolerate so you are best sticking with bottom dwelling fish.

i cant go with cories sincei have a marble(3/5 of tank has marble as subtrate, while the rest hasa gravel substrate) so cories wont work what do u think would work... ?
but igot a week to decide since im starting hte fishless cycle right now

my dad said 2 weeks, i forgot to say over a week thanks for reminding me but whats a good choice bottom dweller, (not ghost shrimp, my betta munched him up already right in my face, funny was it just as i was locating my shrimp, i thought to myself "i wonder if my fish ate him yet" then i find hte shrimp on the bare part of the tank, my betta then dives down and eats the shrimp lol!)
Edit:
my betta is kinda sulking since he feels less free in his bowl now, uh......
where is a temporary place i could put him? his bowl i feel is too small(half gal bowl, i shoudl beable to move him into a temp 2 gallon tank later, but its currentlynot vacant(a platy with ich whos really quite hardy, my tetras died within 2 days of hte infect, its 2 weeksn and my platy is still running strong not realizing its dying, and its acting normal, despite still having hte ich for 2 weeks now, it has stopped hiding.(2 week ich infection still swimming around normally, just clamped fins sometimes))
What could i do to stop his depression, his colors are still fairly vibrant, but he jsut doesnt move much in his bowl....

Despite all my work for hte new 10 gallon ive called off hte plans, my betta wont be getting into it(its gonna have a few other fishies in that tank, but instead id rathr have a new betta in and a few platys in there, if it works)
And instead my betta will be staying with me in my room in the 2 gal acrylic tank(unfiltered unheated) room temp = 74.5 degrees
And my heater, 10 gal Airpump, 3gal Internal Filter will take a break....untill iget my next 10g tank(thats when i move down to my new room in the basement, which im going to ask my dad if i can take the 10g for myselfies(in which i get my own fish in there) into my new larger room)
But ill try myselt to keep my betta happy...
Anywho my betta seems half daed im worried...
Hes not moving and his heads at hte top of the bowl in a diagonal position is this something shoudkl be worried about?
