Resolved The Krib Mystery!

Ok we took the female kribs body back to pets at home and they tested the water sample from the tank...
we were told the most perfect condition that is known...


what else did i expct i could have told them that!

The "expert" fish man sad that they only had one male and 2 females and the first female we were given was not the males other half....
so today i was given the proper female too replace the dead one

so she seems the healthiest ive ever seen

my boyfriend also got himself a new guppy for his tank lol!
will get pics once ive finished acclimitizing... should be an hour from now they been acclimatizing for 2 so far!

it does sound as though the male rejected her and became agressive as it does happen with kribs they are a funny like that. onced paired they will be for the rest of their lives and if you loose one you usually loose the other in the pair as well.

well when he had the first female he wa very pale...
ive introduced this female and she sticks one end he sticks to the other....
so not sure whats going on maybe hell notice her....

you will know once she notices the male as her belly will go cherry red and she will start kinking her tail around to the side in front of him from then on they are partners for life lol.

My male's will always animate themselveews in the water and sit there holding the smae position for hourse while the female flirts with him. THen they are paired up. THere is the occasional lip lock.

so how do you tell the difference between a male and a female?

the female has a shorter dorsal fin(the top one)

the male has a much pointier dorsal

females are shorter bidied. Females also have a deeo belly. THeir fins are usually rounded. Also, thier stomach is usually a deep crimson purple or red.
