i posted a while ago about a fish with chronic fin rot....well it has developed into much much more....she bloats every other day and floats pathetically at the top of her tank....

Here is her history with me I have had her about a month. First day i got her home i examined her and found that she had parasites so i medicated and they went away i believe. Next her fins begin rotting away slowly i tried a fungus eliminator then i moved onto bettamax adding salt the whole time. When these seem to be failing me i move onto Maracyn II which she has been in for the past eight days. I was adding salt but with the strange bloating i have eliminated it as i have been doing research which told me if it a kidney problem or something of the sort it will only make her retain fluid more. So she starts bloating i thought it was swim bladder at first but I am led to believe it is not because of the peculiar pattern. She will still eat if i feed her that hasn't been a problem at all. One day she is bloated the next she is not....she is darting and nervous and when she floats at the top i can see that her spine looks very crooked and deformed. It has been a month and she has been eating but is not getting any bigger at all and her fins are still deteriorating. I keep the water clean and i always age it and add conditioner she recieves water changes every two days.... Going on some advice on the internet i have started giving her epsom salt baths hoping they might help alleviate the bloating (by the way no protruding scales at all). I have to say i don't know what to do anymore and could really use some expert help here...Thanks for you time and any aid you may be able to give.... I want to save her if i can i have been trying hard to do it.

I'm sorry she's having such a hard time ,Jayderana :(

I think that every illness happens because of a deficiency, just like with humans. The first step is a very extensive diet but sometimes even that's not enough if you don't have really great water, our fish do live in city water that is just so overprocessed and nasty. I use city water with nitrates out of the tap at 40 ppm  To compensate for the grossness I like to add liquid minerals to my water, I get them at a health food store and they're very concentrated, two drops in a 5 gallon buck seems to be enough. I also use colloidal silver, I think I've mentioned that before,a quick search will bring up info I've posted in the past. I also use Amazon Rain which is rich in vitamins and beneficial minerals, maybe you'll want to try something like that .

It sounds like it's definitely internal  When you say she had parasites, were they external?

Thank you for the information i will definitely look into it. They were external parasites thread like parasites. She came from a sick bunch of fish at the pet store and has been nothing but trouble since i brought her home but i don't want to give up yet. After i bought her i went back and about 6 or 7 of her sibling had dropped dead and the others were sick. I am honestly surprised and grateful she has made it this long only i feel terrible that she has to be suffering like this. I had figured that it must be something internal it is just difficult to diagnose with so little appropriate information available to me. I have other fish living in the same water and they seem to be doing good one i have never had a problem with of course some are obviously going to have an immune system that is less sufficient than others i assume. I will definitely try the minerals hopefully i can find some. Once again thank you your input was very important and helpful to me. I only hope i can do this little one some good and fix her up. Any other info throughts and suggestions anyone can think of i would truly appreciate.

Well, I remember in the first topic you posted about this, I replied with a link to bettatalk. Check it out again, if the fin rot keeps getting worse, it might be worth a try.

James, thank you for your post and your previous post... I am going to look into the availability of a product like that around here. My greatest worry is that she is so tiny it would be difficult to control the application of the medicine. But i may have to use drastic measures to help her out.
