Rescued Some Bettas, Alot More Then Expected...

Hmm, by taking one out, you now not only have the wrong tank size, but the wrong ratio. I could def. see this running into problems over time, and it would probably be best to do what is advised and keep 4-6 in a very heavily planted 10g with plenty of hiding caves. Until then, however, do you have a TON of plants and caves in the 5g? If not, you should try to arrange it; it should greatly diminish the fighting, and if the fighting still occurs, they can at least escape one another more easily.
Creating a sorority tank is very tricky business; with adult, unrelated females who are accustomed to being kept seperately (cups), the chance of serious fighting is quite high, and they may do best being kept singly. However, you can diminish the chances of fatalities with proper tank size, lots of hiding spots, and a bunch of plants.

yeah i have one ornament its has some caves in it. ill get some more plants in seeing as i have about 10 extras. ok i put two more into the corner with one other plant. i have another plant on the other side and this ornament with hiding places at the bottom. i dont mind taking my fake castle out of my ten gallon becuase it has lots of holes in it. should i do that and add more plants? i dont want the tank to be crowded with fake plants and ornaments...

guys alittle help... -_-

Heh, well no offense, but the tank is allready crowded with too many female bettas; by the inch per gallon rule, the tank is quite badlt overstocked. So if you're worried about crowding, it isn't the plants and caves that should be the biggest concern; reccomendations about tank size exist for a reason, and just because someone kept 4 in a 3.6g (which is WAY too small; I bet the water quality declines rapidly) with some degree of sucess doesn't mean it is a good idea. ;)
Right now, the most important thing is stopping the fights, so feel free to fill that tank from gravel to lid with as many plants and caves as you can fit and still maintain swimming room. It will make them feel more secure and will offer hiding spaces to help avoid injuries and fatalities, which is the top priority right now. Over time, you could always add less bulky caves and plants, but while they're settling I'd definately want as many hiding spots as possible.

ive already discussed that the fighting has seesed after removing one of the female bettas and putting it into a seperate tank...i guess ill add the castle and that should be good...i added caslte and plant and everything is doing good. the dominant one sumtimes chases the little one but the little one goes and hides and the dominent forgets about her. and this inch per gallon rule is fine. three 1inch females in a 6 gallon tank. !?!? dont see how that doesnt fit the one inch per gallon rule...

The fact that fighting has calmed down does not mean a long-term peace; I know of many instances where people have had perfectly peaceful tanks for ages, just to have the fish randomly snap and start fighting out of the blue. It is always a risk with sorority tanks, which is why heavy planting, lots of caves, and a bit of space is suggested. I would add plants in addition to the castle if you have them, just for some extra cover.

ok ill add acouple more some time ill add diffrent ones to go with the funky coloring scheme. ok im going to go ahead and transfer the runt into the other two gallon the visious one is really going after it and the runts just speeding away.
