Well I had a lot of fishes in my 10 gallon when I started with this tank a year ago. Throughout that period my tank welcomed a lot of fishes and never had any problems with their health(except when a few of my fishes killed each other because some were wounded). I decided a few days to give away all my fishes except a few. I gave away a 4 inch Blue Gouramie, 4 inch pearl Gouramie, 3 inch Pearl gouramie, and 2 Austrailian Rainbows that were 3 inches. All these fish that I gave away I had for a long time(except the Austrailian Rainbows). They never got sick and always maintained their bright colors with a lot of hard work and good diet. I myself never allow one of my fishes to die. But in the past week my male swordtails died from what I expect to be old age. When I bought him 9 months before his death he was big(2 1/2 inches). He always was very happy and healthie. So one day I wake up and find him on the aquarium bottom dead. I quickly tested the water and saw that everything was ok. Also he never was sick and never got sick before so I assume he died of old age. I will really miss him. After my swordtail died my female guppie got a body fungal infection. So I saw the water parameters were fine. So I am thinking what could of caused this. She was not under stress, there was no temperature increase or decrease and she had a good diet. So I started to treat her with Maracyn-Two. But after the treatment there was no change. So I realized that the medication(Maracyn-Two) does not treat Fungal infection. So I quickly got Maroxy and I was to late to do so and she died
. But the good news is she left me with about 35 fry and I will keep some to continue the family(I use to own the mother of the guppy who gave me these fry). The thing is about me is I buy fish when they are small and sell them when they are big.
So I am planning to buy fish that will not grow big to avoid getting heart broken when I have to sell fish that I get attach to. These are the fishes I am left with currently. 1 Female Guppy, 1 female swordtail, and 1 Female Praecox Rainbow. This is what I am planning to have after I add more fishes. 12 Cardinal Tetras, 3 Female guppys, 1 Male Guppy, 3 female Swordtails, 1 Male Swordtail, and 4 Praecox Rainbows. Many people may think this is too many fishes but I disagree. I have kept a lot of fishes in my 10 gallon over a long course of time and had no problem in keeping them. I am also thinking of adding about 2 or 3 shrimps. So I want you people on TFF to help me pick Shrimps that are friendly with the the list of fishes I am planning to have. Hope that explains everything about my 10 Gallon Renovation.

If you read many books about keeping fishes you can see you can keep many fishes in a 10 gallon if they are taken well care of. Its all depends on how good of a filter you have because this many fishes on a regular filter wont be able to thrive because not good enough water quality. But I have a strong filter and I am planning to buy fishes that dont grow over 2 inches with the exception of the swordtails.
