I have a Rena xp2 filter for my tank. the tank has been running for 6 weeks. When I first set the tank up the out flow of water was quite good and strong, but now it is not that strong. I don't seem to be haveing any problems with water quality or fish but I feel the flow should be much stronger. My lFS suggested changing the white pad at the top of the filter canister. I've looked at the pad but it's not that dirty.
Can anyone point me in the wright direction.
Cheers Brads

Couple things, if you haven't cleaned the filter yet, do so. Clean it every 4 weeks. The filter floss aka the white pad needs to be replaced about every 4 weeks as well or rinsed very thoroughly. I have a Rena XP3 so I don't know what media you might have in it. If you have the foam, rinse that out well too. If you have the bio zorb, pitch it, it has performed it's duty and is ready for the garbage can.

The other thing is the valve controller on the outlet pipe, make sure that is at the higher end of the power range.

Cheers for the advice, I have spoken to a few other people and they all pretty much say the same thing as you so thankyou. I will do this in a coulpe of days when my water change is due.
