i dont have any experience in breeding cichleds yet, but i think you should at least wait til they hatch, the females need to fan the eggs...wait for someone that knows a more knowledgable answer to reply

What type of cichlid are you breeding?

EDIT: Oh, the albino cons :p Let the parents take are of the fry for a few weeks, although I'm no expert :D

one of the pleasures of keeping convicts is to watch the breeding pair raise their babies for a while
they are wonderful parents.....mum and dad will round up wandering babies gently in their mouths and drop them back with the rest of the group
they will herd them around the tank and stir up gravel to find food for them

I used to separate fry from parents after about 2 weeks when they are ready to breed again

as an experiment last time I left the babies with them for longer...they grew to about an inch long and mum and dad cared for them and delayed their next breeding session
once the breeding pair have more eggs they will then turn on their own babies and start eating them!.....but up to that point, they make fantastic parents!
