Removing Permenant Marker From Driftwood?

Hi guys,

I recently purchased a small piece of driftwood, and am currently soaking it. The problem is the big "$3.99" in black letters that is smack dab in the middle of the piece. Any ideas on how to get it off? I've tried scrubbing with a toothbrush, but had no luck.

But is that going to be ok for the wood?

I mean this "will" be going into an aquarium.

lol ya... its taking a layer off the wood therfore taking the felt with it.

meh i would just use knife and cut it off, drift wood is pritty soft usaly the top layers are slowly roting in the aquaria.
